While everything goes through a phase of make over in this world, some things always remain the same; the object that goes through this changing process is itself the same. The base is the same. It is only the outer layer that goes through in-numerous changes. Sometimes it makes the base stronger and sometimes it only deteriorates. Knowledge too is going through this same phase; instead of getting enhanced and strengthened by the broadened views of scholars, great men of words, scientists and wise men and women, knowledge only now seems to be a game of power where the contenders are not the students but the politicians. Whenever something called 'politics' starts to interfere instead of helping anything, it becomes a battleground not only theoretically but practically as well. Innumerable strikes, mobs, shutdowns have been witnessed probably since the first time politics started to frame the education system. Never heard about such when Aristotle or Plato used to study and teach. Only to speak of one country, the education system has gone through many numbers of changes, upgradations and what not, but has it really helped the students or enhanced anything in the field of 'learning'. Today because of this interference, students only remain students. A majority of the students study only to get degrees so that they can get a secured job. It is not their fault if they are doing so. Everyday the newspapers are filled with achievements that 'so and so' has secured highest in the state or the country but after some time all these achievements gets dwindled away in he midst of the new achievements that always emerge day by day. All seem to run for a secured job in this 'fast age'. But is knowledge really meant for all this. NO! Knowledge is not just something about getting degrees and secured jobs. Its about understanding and following the good and valuable things that it has to offer us. It is about making the valuable knowledge more accessible to the people who are unaware of it; to get it a make over and present it to the people in such a way that they can understand what really lies within.
It is not that today there are no scholars or great thinkers. The problem is that people, specially students are so trapped in this race of jobs and degrees that they forget what they really are studying and what its value is. Knowledge is not just about what is written in books. It is also about the environment we are living in, the people we are seeing and how we react towards them. We need to open up and show what we really feel, we need to be able enough to express our thoughts so that everyone can understand it and make use of that knowledge. And in order to do so, the education system should be free from any barriers and it should provide students with every chance of improvement- not just in theory but also in practical life. Money cannot buy everything but knowledge can make you anything you want to be!!
